Green Cinema Review & Links!
With thanks to everyone that made it to our Precious Water Green Cinema Event on Sunday at Albury Sports Club!
The Team at T.E would like to thank the 45 or so people who came along, participating in conversations and contributing ideas as well as clearly enjoying each others company.
The Young People Hour was a great success with fun films, drawing and lots of popcorn... they even left some for the adults later on!
For those who could not make it, or wish to share on their evening, we have put together some links lower down.
The various films, presentations and intros, made for a fast moving and varied experience, that even included a message from (T.E team member) Katy at the UN Water Conference in New York!
A big thank you also goes out to the team at Albury Sports Club for welcoming us so warmly, running the bar and putting up with the extensive scattering of popcorn!
Albury Sports Club are hosting their annual "Party Night" on the 29th April to raise much needed funds for the club and a great evening out. You can find out more at the link below, and tables can be booked for a group of friends, or sharing with others!
We will be announcing the next Green Cinema Event in the weeks to come which will explore a different environmental theme.
A big thanks to the contributors...
Nick & Jason - Shere Dunk Club with their wonderful video and talk about the mental health benefits and community that has formed around their growing club! The video below is a brilliant watch and new (brave!) members are welcome in the stream... or for an armchair experience via their Instagram!
Summer Rogers - with her beautifully written and inspiring words about the joy of swimming in the sea, rivers and lakes - hoped to be shared in a next article.
Katy Newnam of Tillingbourne.Earth & Waste Busters for her inspiring message to our community- direct from the UN Water Conference in New York!
Roshan Kann - Presentation with brief history, geology, land use and overview of the condition of the Tillingbourne Stream....
Anna Pohorely- for her explanation of how Water Rangers and our local community are working to monitor water quality in the Tillingbourne Stream and throughout the wider River Wey Catchment. The link below will join you to this community action group (inspired and set up by Anna!) on Whatsapp, where you can become part of the testing team and be kept informed of nature restoration projects that are going on to protect The Tillingbourne and its brooks from Leith Hill to Shalford.
Jude Palmer's incredible film about her appreciation of open water swimming, the mental health benefits and joy she has found from her experiences...
And if you didn't make the evening and would like to watch some of the other incredible films that were shown....
